Master Ballroom Instructor Jose Ramirez will teach teens how to ballroom dance through his Dance Like a Star program at Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia, Wednesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. Space is limited to the first 30 teens who register at the library.
Teens will learn dance styles such as: Swing, Rumba, and the Cha Cha Cha. They will also be invited to participate in a routine at the end of the class.
Jose Ramirez is a professional Ballroom and Latin competitor and instructor. He began his dance career at Macias’ Dance Center 15 years ago and also helped with management for the studio. He has traveled to several different countries for competition. He is now a board member of Columbus Elementary School and is also a Master Dance instructor for Life Change Ballroom, helping underprivileged children.
The programs are free and open to the public thanks to the support of the Friends of the Libraries and the Pioneer Library System. Teens using their library’s Punch Card to document participation in the Summer Reading Challenge may enter the drawing for a Grand Prize at the close of summer. The prize is an I-Pod Touch.
