The Shawnee Public Library will join in the festivities surrounding the International Finals Youth Rodeo’s annual appearance in Shawnee. The rodeo takes place July 12-17 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, IFYR teen directors from across the country will demonstrate their rodeo roping skills in the library’s Community Room.

There also will be opportunities for autographs and photos with the demonstrators. Registration is not required.

Thursday will be Readin’ and Ropin’ Day at the rodeo itself. Library staff will be at the rodeo for library card signups.  The first 100 rodeo entrants presenting a library card at the gate will receive free admission to the morning's events beginning at 9 a.m.
