Aiden Street, Branch Manager of the Norman Public Library with the Pioneer Library System, has been selected to attend the Mountain Plains Library Association (MPLA) 2010 Leadership Institute in Estes Park, Colorado, April 25-30.
65 applications were received from a twelve state area and 30 participants were selected to attend. The Leadership Institute will be facilitated by nationally known organizational development consultant Maureen Sullivan. Ms. Sullivan has over 25 years experience in leadership development and helped establish the ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute and is a faculty member for its annual program.
Street has over 14 years combined experience in public and academic libraries. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2004 with a Masters in Library and Information Studies. She received undergraduate degrees from the University of South Florida and the University of North Florida.
Street began her career with the Pioneer Library System in 2001 and has served as a Teen Librarian, Children’s Services Department Head, and Senior Services/Outreach Librarian with the Moore Public Library. She has also served as an interim branch manager for the Noble and Norman public libraries, and was Coordinator for Business Services for the Pioneer Library System.
She is a graduate of the 2004 Oklahoma Library Association Leadership Gold Institute, served as State Secretary of the Oklahoma Library Association in 2007-2008, and holds a Level VI Certification from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
The Mountain Plains Library Association is a twelve state association of librarians, library paraprofessionals and friends of libraries in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. Its purpose is to promote the development of librarians and libraries by providing significant educational and networking opportunities. Funding sponsors of the Institute are MPLA, Innovative Interfaces, and EBSCO Information Services.
