We are offering a four-part series of programs designed to give those looking for employment some strategies and skills that could lead to success. The Job Hunting programs will be held on Thursday mornings in February from 10 a.m. to noon in the library.
All of the programs are offered free of charge. Unless otherwise noted, participants who wish to use a library computer will need to sign up in advance. Those brining their own WiFi enabled laptop need not register in advance. Registration may be done in person at the library, by phone at 872-5713, or by taking advantage of the online registration option on the Noble events calendar.
On Thursday, February 4, Nancy Chowning begins the series with Job Hunting I: Setting Up an Email Account. Chowning will guide participants through the steps of creating and using a free email service. Registration is required for library computer use.
Business owner and entrepreneur Connie Eckstein presents Job Hunting II: Creating a Resume on Thursday, February 11. Eckstein will assist participants in preparing an effective resume, based upon her experiences as both an employer and an applicant for jobs. Participants in this program are asked to bring their education and employment histories, references, and career goals. Registration is required for library computer use.
Job Hunting III: Searching the Internet, is Thursday, February 18. Jackie Kropp of the Computer Training Center of the Norman Public Library will help participants navigate online employment sites and services to find those that match the needs and the interests of the job hunter. Registration is required for library computer use.
The series ends with Job Hunting IV: Preparing for an Interview, on Thursday, February 24. Using lecture, discussion, and role-play, Louise Whitaker, Training Coordinator for the Pioneer Library System, will help participants be comfortable and effective in interview situations. No registration is required.
