Cathy Adams, Branch Manager of the Noble Public Library with the Pioneer Library System, has been selected to attend the Public Library Association (PLA) Leadership Institute in Portland, Oregon. The Institute, “Changing Course: Leadership for Navigating the New Library” is presented as part of the PLA National Conference, March 23-27.
Attendees for the institute were selected through an application process that assessed the individuals’ experience and their roles in leadership and change management in public library settings. Adams has been Branch Manager for the Noble Public Library since 2008. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies, Adams has also served as the Teen Services Librarian for the Moore Public Library, and the Reference and Instruction Librarian at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. Adams was also selected to attend the PLA/3M Leadership Development Institute in 2008. |

The Friends of Noble Library will have their annual Book Sale Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 7, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday’s sale will be a ‘$5 bag’ sale. The Friends of the Noble Library have a Preview Sale for their members on Friday, March 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The money raised from the book sale is used throughout the year to subsidize special activities that otherwise might not be possible within the library’s regular budget. For more information about the opportunities available through the Friends, call the library at 872-5713. |

February is Black History Month and the Noble Public Library is proud to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to our lives in science, literature, government, and other disciplines.
The Adult Book Discussion group will meet February 11th at 1pm to discuss A Raisin in the Sun by . If you would like to join in, copies of the book are available at the check-out desk. There will also be an optional potluck following the discussion.
Throughout the month, there will be several dispalys in the library that highlight Pioneer Library System materials that highlight the the acheivements and impact of African Americans throughout history.
We invite you to come learn more about Black History Month, which began in the U.S. in 1926 through the efforts of African American historian Carter G. Woodson and grew from a week long celebration into an entire month in 1976. |

Professional cellist and storyteller Erin Dunn Yeaman presents Tunes and Tales Cello Story Time at the Noble Public Library, Thursday, February 4 at 10:00a. The program is designed for children up to age 5 in the company of a parent or caregiver. The story time is free and no registration is required.
An animated storyteller and spirited player, Yeaman has worked with and performed for all ages in libraries and preschools across the Midwest and New England. She skillfully crafts each performance to match the age and learning styles of her audience. Whether she is telling Where the Wild Things Are or The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Yeaman uses the cello to add richness and to evoke images that inspire the imagination of each little listener.
Ms. Dunn Yeaman has become one of Pioneer Libarry System's most popular and effective presenters. Our audiences love her and her approach fits perfectly with the other arts-centered programming we offer in our libraries such as Growing Like a Read and Magic of Music. |

We are offering a four-part series of programs designed to give those looking for employment some strategies and skills that could lead to success. The Job Hunting programs will be held on Thursday mornings in February from 10 a.m. to noon in the library.
All of the programs are offered free of charge. Unless otherwise noted, participants who wish to use a library computer will need to sign up in advance. Those brining their own WiFi enabled laptop need not register in advance. Registration may be done in person at the library, by phone at 872-5713, or by taking advantage of the online registration option on the Noble events calendar.
On Thursday, February 4, Nancy Chowning begins the series with Job Hunting I: Setting Up an Email Account. Chowning will guide participants through the steps of creating and using a free email service. Registration is required for library computer use.
