Kids are invited to read to Snuffie in Newcastle.

Therapy dog Snuffie, a regular visitor to children at the Newcastle Public Library, will be waking up a little earlier for his summer visits.

Children ages 4-10 are invited to the library, 705 NW 10th St., Friday, June 4 to practice their reading skills with Snuffie. Children can be signed up for 15-minute reading slots beginning at 10 a.m., an earlier time during the summer months.

The program encourages children who may have difficulty reading aloud a non-threatening experience reading to Snuffie, who is trained by Terry Lovell.

Snuffie will be at the library at 10 a.m. each Friday throughout the summer.

Registration is required by visiting the library or calling 387-5076.
