Mel Odom

With more than 150 published books and years teaching writing on the collegiate level, Mel Odom knows his way through the art of writing.

Now the author is bringing his expertise to teens through the Pioneer Library System’s Summer Reading Program. His writing workshop “Make Waves – Write!” will be offered at 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Newcastle Public Library.

Odom will guide participants through traditional writing approaches and also explore the use of blogging as an avenue for imagination and creativity.

Odom has published books in a variety of genres, including fantasy, romance, science fiction and even comic books. He is a member of the Oklahoma Professional Writers Hall of Fame and teaches professional writing at the University of Oklahoma.

Registration for the program is required at the library or by calling 387-5076.
