Zumba IS an absolute blast, and WILL blow you away! Zumba Fitness is becoming a revolution and the latest aerobic/dance/FUN program sweeping the nation.
The kick-off day for Teen Zumba is Thursday February 11 at 6:00 pm.
Kid’s Zumba is also kicking off on February 11 at 4:30 pm, and will be a Zumba class focused on kid’s aged 8 and up. Kid’s Zumba will be an on-going program and continue on a regular basis, depending on future demand. The January thru May schedule is as follows: Kid’s Zumba will be held at 4:30 pm on February 11 & 18, March 11, 18, & 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, and May 6, 13, 20 and 27.
For more information and sign up, stop by the Information Services Desk, or call 793-4349. For Kid’s Zumba, children must be 8 years of age or older and sign-up is required. Participants can register and get more information at the Children’s Desk inside the library. Signed-parental permissions and waivers are also needed to attend the events, which can be picked up at the library.
Comfortable, loose clothing with good aerobic footwear is recommended.
The Zumba training sessions feature fast and slow rhythms with toning, combined to burn fat while sculpting the body. Latin flavors and internationally zesty music enhance the dance-like movements. With a focus on the hypnotic music, participants get hooked and have fun. “It is just so exhilarating, with energy levels high and class is a lot more fun than work…actually there is laughing, singing along, and joining in while at the same time being quite aerobic,” says Leanne Cheek, Teen Librarian for Moore Library.
Two licensed Zumba instructors will be presenting the Teen Program, and are also full-time librarians for Moore Public Library. Lenore St. John, Children’s Librarian and Outreach Specialist and Jenny Metheny, Children’s Librarian, both work full-time in the Children’s Department at the library.
With national obesity levels at an all time high for children and teenagers, Zumba @ the library offers an exciting and easy means to incorporate a workout into busy schedules. Teen Zumba may be offered again in the Spring and Summer, depending on the response and the demand.
