A Gardener's Guide to Frost: Outwit the Weather and Extend the Spring and Fall Seasons by Philip Harnden
Here I sit reading a book about frost when the air temperature in central Oklahoma is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.. Just the title of this book brings a cooling breeze to the mind. This is a very interesting book.
It discusses in greater depth that I have seen in other gardening books, the phenomenon of frost from the different causes to the effects of humidity. The author resides in New York state near the Canadian border and so deals with the need to protect against frost even during the summer months. He also provides methods for fending off frost and provides the frost tolerance of many crops.
All of these ideas are applicable to Oklahoma gardeners who have a desire to extend the gardening season. Personally, I celebrate the coming of frost in November as it releases me from many arduous garden chores.
